Overview
Many young people turn to their parents or family members for help after they turn 18. But for at-risk youth, the transition to adulthood can be perilous: an estimated 29% of foster youth have experienced homelessness by the age of 21. In California, one in four emancipated youth are homeless.
Established in 2007, Casa Pacifica’s Transitional Youth Services (TYS) program provides vulnerable young adults with the stability, connection and growth they need to thrive. Through safe and supportive relationships, stable housing and individualized services, we help young adults build successful futures despite the challenges they’ve faced in the past.
Our TYS program provides young adults ages 18-25 with an array of supportive services:
- Case management
- Mental health services
- Health care
- Life skills training
- Educational assistance (scholarships) for college or trade school
- Employment assistance
- Financial literacy training
- Parenting skills
- Peer-to-peer support
- Service coordination
- Identification recovery
Casa Pacifica offers two transitional housing options, each with a resident adviser – Independent transitional housing in the community and semi-independent housing on our campus.
Our goal is to lift young people up who are vulnerable from homelessness, trauma and mental health challenges and support them in their transition to greater responsibility and independence.
