In-School Behavioral Health
Overview
Casa Pacifica’s Non-Public School (NPS) provides an array of support and care to help kids and families overcome some life’s most difficult circumstances, including complex mental and behavioral health challenges and family crises. Located on its 25-acre Camarillo campus, Casa Pacifica’s NPS is a WASC accredited, diploma-granting institution serving children, adolescents and transition-aged youth in grades K – 12 dealing with complicated issues such as:
- Emotional Disturbance
- Autism
- Health Impairments
- Specific Learning Disabilities
Fully-certified with commendations by the State Department of Education, our NPS serves day school students ages 6 through 22 throughout Ventura County, southern Santa Barbara County, and northern Los Angeles County, in addition to youth in our care who reside at our Short Term Residential Treatment Program (STRTP). We provide:
- A safe, relationship-based, therapeutic and academically enriching environment with a focus on personalized academic interventions that fill gaps in critical academic areas.
- Collaborative Problem Solving©, Life Space Crisis Intervention (LSCI)©, and SAFE Environments© to build relationships and help children reach their goals.
- Evidence-based practices to teach skills and equip students with self-confidence, positive character traits and problem solving strategies, so that they can successfully transition to a less restrictive setting as quickly as appropriate.

Who is Eligible?
Students with a current Individualized Education Plan (IEP) with an eligibility of Emotion Disturbance (ED), Other Health Impairment (OHI), or a ccombination of ED and Autism (secondary) or ED and OHI can apply to Casa Pacifica’s NPS.

Academic Focus
Our educational program is individually designed to meet the specific academic needs of each student. The Common Core Standards-based comprehensive curriculum enables students to benefit from a wide variety of learning experiences to build classroom skills and promote social growth.
The NPS uses the Road To Success Academy (RTSA) curriculum model that is specifically designed to focus on social/emotional growth and regulation. Utilizing a thematic, disciplinary, project-based focus, led by classroom instructors, para educators, 1:1s and behavior specialists, the RTSA curriculum places learning in the hands of our students in a guided, supportive setting.
The NPS uses a tiered system, based on the student’s willingness to participate in their education, allowing students with similar growth mindsets to work together. A low student-staff ratio – of approximately 1:4 – enables students to receive the individualized attention they require to be successful. In addition to core academic courses, Casa Pacifica provides:

Educationally-Related Mental Health Services
Overview
Casa Pacifica, in collaboration with several Santa Barbara County school districts, provides educationally-related mental health services to students who need additional support to ensure their rights to a public education. General education students can be referred by school personnel in districts that contract with Casa Pacifica for therapeutic services. Additionally, through an IEP (Individualized Education Program) a qualifying student is provided a continuum of services to include: individual and/or group counseling, parent counseling, and social work services, designed to support students in accessing their offer of FAPE (Free and Appropriate Public Education).
Who Is Eligible?
Students (grades K-12) designated for educationally-related mental health services in their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) are eligible for these services.
Referrals
All access to Casa Pacifica’s school-based services is facilitated through the school district where a child is located. Through referrals from school personnel (i.e. school psychologist, special education director, school counselor, or local Special Education Local Planning Area) and/or the IEP process, parents and guardians can request services to aid their child in taking full advantage of the education that they are entitled to.
