“Casa Pacifica’s Wraparound services for at-risk youth helped save this client’s life.” — Santa Barbara County Probation Officer
At just 15, Jonah faced struggles few adults could bear. Raised in an underserved neighborhood surrounded by gang influences, he found himself on a dangerous path of substance abuse. Despite his mother’s efforts, Jonah was overwhelmed by drugs and violence.
After a severe overdose led to a prolonged hospitalization, Jonah’s life intersected with law enforcement, and he was placed on probation. Facing the possibility of out-of-home placement, Jonah was referred to Casa Pacifica’s Wraparound services for at-risk youth—a turning point for him and his family.
Wraparound became a lifeline, providing Jonah and his mother with a network of support dedicated to his success. This collaborative service offers a comprehensive range of mental health services and ensures youth and families receive the help they need to thrive within their communities. Casa Pacifica’s Wraparound team assembles a Child and Family Team (CFT) of counselors, specialists, and community advocates to design a personalized plan focused on the strengths of the youth and their family.
Jonah’s journey wasn’t easy, but he was determined to turn things around. His goals: get off probation, improve his grades, and make his mother proud. Despite the temptation of his past, Jonah’s Wraparound team supported him in making healthier choices. In early 2023, he courageously entered a drug treatment program, and upon his return, his commitment to recovery deepened.
Jonah’s hard work began to pay off. His grades improved, and he gained confidence in his future. “Wraparound helped me stay focused. My team gave me the support I needed when things felt overwhelming,” Jonah shared. “They never gave up on me, and knowing I had people in my corner made all the difference.”
In July 2024, after achieving sobriety and improving his academic standing, Jonah graduated from the Wraparound program. His probation officer commented, “Wraparound saved this client’s life.” Jonah hopes his probation will be fully terminated after completing Grizzly Academy in 2025.
Since graduating, Jonah’s mother has shared stories of his ongoing growth, gratitude, and resilience. She credits Casa Pacifica’s Wraparound program for transforming their lives.
